All out‑of‑hospital births must be officially recorded when a baby is born at home or anywhere other than a hospital in the City and County of San Francisco. The Oklahoma State Department of Health Division of Vital Records is responsible for registering every birth which occurs in the State of Oklahoma as well as preserving, amending and issuing certified copies of those records in accordance with state law. It is required by California law that the hospital where a birth occurs submits the information for the birth certificate to be registered to our office within 21 calendar days of the event.
